Judging (Same as
ARO):
Heats:
5 Skaters Per Heat
(4-6 if uneven numbers)
Gravity Games format only (no Jam session in heats)
Heat Duration - 8mins
30 Seconds Max 'run'
– Enforced by a timekeeper alongside the MC
Finals:
Runs, 2x 45 seconds,
Best Score Counts
Jam - 10mins (or
until all the hammers are dropped)
Media Passes:
Like all past events please
request a 'media' vest from the registration desk on the day. Vests will need
to be shared if demand is high.
Gravity Games Format Details:
Skaters take turns to
skate on the course until they fall or reach the 30 second maximum.
A ‘fall’ that ends a
skaters runs includes their body hitting the ground or them falling over.
A ‘sloppy’ landing
like putting your hand down, or missing a lock on doesn’t count (so long as you
still roll away with the majority of your momentum).
The MC will announce
the order at the start of the heat and help remind skaters when it’s their turn
to drop in.
This is the same
format used at last year’s competition and the ARO 2010.
Some more specific judging information:
Every skater in the
Gravity Games format will have a minimum of 4 turns each.
Once the 8mins is
reached in a heat, we will continue through the heat ‘cycle’ until that ‘cycle’
is finished.
MCs will try and give
warnings around 1minute to go so you know if the cycle will end or not, and
consequently when your last turn will be.
The finals runs will
start with the skater who gets the highest heat score.
This will result in
the maximum rest time for them before the Jam as their ‘reward’.
Lower ranked skaters
will get the least rest before we go into the Jam.
Judging categories:
Consistency (10),
Style (10), Difficulty (10), Creativity (10)
3 or more judges (up
to 40 points from each judge)
For the finals
skaters get scored on their GG and Jam separately so get a score of up to 80
from each judge.
